Personal Learning Networks

Personal Learning Networks

It must be hard for the present generation to believe that some years ago to acquire a piece of information men had to go to a library borrow a book and through the pages for hours or even days. Now Google, baidu and lots of search engines have made life
frighteningly easy for us. You don't have to see the steps of your library, library will
come to your doorstep now.

Searching information is now 'outsourcedto search engines. We will discuss how to pin point the factoid or information you are looking for and filter out the junk which comes with it.
There are loads of tools available in the web Facebook, twitter, YouTube, weibo to name a few.
Facebook: - Mostly used to upload party pics in western world. However in Asia (which includes Middle East and India) it is also used to indulge in starting some politically oriented discussions as well as social issues. We can also learn many things with academic as well as
business oriented features if we 'like' pages related to the topic.

YouTube: - You can see lot of pages related to software training, programming and other learning materials in YouTube if you know to use it well then you can learn a lot.

Twitter: - You can contact the academics, educators and industrialist using clever use of twitter.

Social Technologies

Social Technologies for social re engineering

Social technologies brought a big revolution to the society in many parts of the world. One of the main aspect of this tech is that anybody with certain valuable info related to anything can show it to the world without much hassle whether it's an educator or a revolutionary.

Other technological innovations like t.v or radio took years to have this much followers as the facebook could get in few months. If an ordinary man want to show a particular piece of info to the t.v or radio, he may have to wait for a long time he might be denied permission by the authorities. Twitter and facebook solved this problem.

I was wondering whether this great advantage of these social tools can change the educations scenario. In short if twitter and facebook can bring down autocracies in middle east can it help the students learn new things and make them job ready......?

VAKOG and NLP

V.A.K.O.G. stands for Visual, Auditory, Kinaesthetic. Olfactory and Gustatory.
Visual refers to seeing (or internally, to perceptions of mental imagery); Auditory to what       is heard externally or internally ('mentally'); kinaesthetic to feelings (either of a sensory 'bodily' nature like pressure, temperature, etc. or of an emotional kind); olfactory to smell and gustatory to taste.
        Neuro-Linguistic programming
Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) is a method of approach to communication, personal development, and psychotherapy created by Richard Bandler and John Grinder. The title asserts a connection between the neurological processes ("neuro"), language ("linguistic"), and behavioral patterns learned through experience ("programming") that proponents speculate can be changed to achieve specific goals in life.
Theoretically it can be also used to cure many phobias and mental illness. Combination of VAKOG and NLP can be used to enhance the teaching skills as well as learning skills.
Criticism
This has been termed ass pseudo-science and was proved to have many faults of its own. It was good in creating placebo effect and enhancing the confidence level of people nd thereby increasing the efficiency.

    Features

One of the biggest features of the digital learning is to cut down the cost of the education significantly without touching down the quality and we can also increase the spread of the education. Another feature I came across is that physically impaired individuals can learn whatever they need without much inconvenience.

Where I come from there are less takers for offbeat topics like digital learning, cloud computing, internet system security which has the potential to be big in the future. So if there are only few takers for a certain course or subject across the country we will be able to cater the demands of those students without straining the resources.
